"With this comprehensive cookbook filled with Valerie Gordon's beloved recipes, now even more people can eat and bake the Valerie way. Favorite desserts like petits fours, cakes, truffles, and cookies have been perfected with the addition of candied rose petals, atomized chocolate, fleur de sel, matcha tea, and other special ingredients. Valerie re-creates desserts from Los Angeles’s lost restaurants such as Chasen’s and the Brown Derby; she simplifies the process of making jam; she provides an accessible way to mix and match components so readers can design their own luscious cakes and pies. Filled with helpful tricks, recipes for a range of tastes, and gorgeous full-color photographs, Sweet is destined to become every baker’s favorite cookbook."

JOIN US FOR THIS VERY SPECIAL OCCASION AND THE BOOK SIGNING AND Q&A TO FOLLOW!

Recognized by both The New York Times and USA Today as a best-selling talent, local author Shelley Shepard Gray will be gracing the library with her presence on Tuesday evening, September 16th beginning at 7:00 pm. With more than 40 published novels to her name, Gray has established herself as beloved writer. The author of the popular "Return to Sugarcreek" series and other Amish fiction novels, Gray has this to say about the themes of her works:

"I started writing about the Amish because their way of life appealed to me. I wanted to write stories about regular, likable people in extraordinary situations-and who just happened to be Amish. Getting the opportunity to write inspirational novels is truly gratifying. With every book, I feel my faith grows stronger. And that makes me feel very special indeed."
